A rhythm of life is a personal framework of “rhythms.” Rhythms are practices, relationships, and patterns that help shape our life journey around the way of Jesus.
In sharing the greatest commandment, Jesus offered a blueprint for creating a rhythm of life.
Each of these categories - heart, soul, mind, strength, neighbor - serve as a template to help us on our journey to be with Jesus, become like Jesus, and do what Jesus did.
To create your own rhythm of life, choose at least one rhythm from each category given to us in the greatest commandment. These rhythms will serve as a jumping off point to intentionally shape and direct your life toward holiness, loving Jesus, and loving others.
Rhythms of daily prayer that
keep your heart soft and
enable you to walk in step with
the movement of the Spirit.
Rhythms of saying “yes” and
saying “no” to help you stay
emotionally healthy and in
tune to the inner life of your
soul.
Rhythms of daily time in
scripture to sharpen your mind
through reading, meditating,
and memorizing.
Rhythms for a healthy and
vibrant body, such as exercise,
healthy eating, play, and rest.
Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.
Matthew
